Senior Research Scientist - Bioinformatics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Scientist specializing in Bioinformatics to join their cutting-edge research and development team in London . This pivotal role involves leading complex computational biology projects, developing novel algorithms, and analyzing large-scale genomic and proteomic datasets to drive scientific discovery. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement bioinformatic pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including WGS, WES, and RNA-Seq.
• Develop and validate novel computational methods and algorithms for biological data analysis and interpretation.
• Perform statistical analysis and data mining on large omics datasets to identify key biological insights and potential therapeutic targets.
• Collaborate closely with experimental biologists to design studies, interpret results, and provide computational support.
• Present research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the team's scientific strategy and project planning.

Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in bioinformatic analysis and computational biology research.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics libraries and tools.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques applicable to biological data.
• Experience with high-performance computing environments and cloud platforms is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
