About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Scientist specializing in Computational Biology to join their innovative R&D team in Aberdeen . This pivotal role involves leveraging advanced computational techniques to analyze complex biological datasets, uncover novel insights, and drive forward cutting-edge research projects. You will be instrumental in developing and applying computational strategies that underpin drug discovery and therapeutic development, working within a dynamic and collaborative scientific environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement computational pipelines for the analysis of large-scale genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics data.
• Develop and validate predictive models and algorithms for identifying biological targets and biomarkers.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and chemists to interpret data and guide research direction.
• Present research findings at internal meetings and potentially at external scientific conferences.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the strategic planning of research initiatives.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven track record with 5+ years of experience in computational biological research.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with relevant bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques applied to biological data.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
