Senior Research Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge Drug Discovery division based in Leicester . This role is pivotal in driving the identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets. You will be instrumental in designing and executing complex experimental strategies, contributing to the advancement of preclinical drug candidates. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute high-throughput screening assays and lead optimization strategies for new drug targets.
• Conduct detailed experimental analysis, interpret complex data sets, and present findings to project teams and senior management.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to advance drug discovery programs from target validation to candidate selection.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of novel research methodologies and technologies.
• Mentor junior research scientists, providing guidance and fostering scientific development within the team.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in a relevant life science discipline (e.g., Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology).
• A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in drug discovery .
• Proven track record of successful experimental design and data analysis in a research and development setting.
• Hands-on experience with various biological assays, molecular biology techniques, and cell culture.
• Strong understanding of medicinal chemistry principles and drug development processes.
