Senior Research Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Scientist to join their innovative drug discovery team in Leicester . This role is pivotal in driving the early-stage research pipeline, focusing on identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets. You will play a critical part in hypothesis generation, experimental design, and execution of complex research projects aimed at discovering groundbreaking medicines. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of in vitro and in vivo experiments to identify and validate novel drug targets.
• Develop and implement new experimental assays and technologies to support drug discovery efforts.
• Analyze complex biological data, interpret results, and present findings to project teams and senior management.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists and other research scientists to advance lead compounds.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to a culture of scientific rigor and innovation.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
• Proven track record of at least 5 years in drug discovery research within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Extensive experience with various assay development techniques and biophysical methods.
• Strong understanding of disease biology relevant to key therapeutic areas.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills .
