Senior Research Scientist - Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Research Scientist to join their esteemed Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group in Portsmouth . This critical role involves designing and executing studies to understand the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) properties of novel drug candidates. You will be instrumental in characterizing the DMPK profiles of compounds, providing crucial data to guide lead optimization and candidate selection. Working within a highly collaborative R&D environment, you will contribute to the development of innovative medicines by ensuring optimal pharmacokinetic properties, playing a key part in advancing compounds through the drug development pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, conduct, and interpret in vitro and in vivo studies to assess ADME properties of drug candidates.
• Develop and validate bioanalytical methods for quantifying drug and metabolite concentrations in biological matrices.
• Evaluate drug-drug interaction potential and metabolic pathways using various experimental systems.
• Collaborate closely with medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology teams to integrate DMPK data into drug discovery programs.
• Contribute to regulatory submissions by preparing DMPK study reports and summaries.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in DMPK research within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Strong understanding of ADME principles and experience with key in vitro DMPK assays (e.g., metabolic stability, transporter permeability).
• Proficiency in bioanalytical techniques such as LC-MS/MS.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and experience working within a lab-based , multidisciplinary team in Portsmouth .
