About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist specializing in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) to join their dynamic research and development team in Norwich . This hybrid role is integral to advancing their drug discovery pipeline by providing crucial insights into how drug candidates are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted by the body. You will design and conduct studies, analyze data, and contribute to the strategic decision-making process for compound progression. The ideal candidate will have a strong experimental background and a deep understanding of the biological and chemical factors influencing drug disposition. Working in a collaborative environment, you will play a key role in optimizing candidate drugs for safety and efficacy in this hybrid capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and interpret in vitro and in vivo studies to assess drug metabolism, pharmacokinetic profiles, and transporter interactions.
- Develop and validate bioanalytical methods for quantifying drug candidates and their metabolites in biological matrices.
- Utilize computational tools and modeling to predict and interpret DMPK properties.
- Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, toxicologists, and pharmacologists to integrate DMPK data into the drug discovery and development process.
- Troubleshoot experimental assays and analytical methods, ensuring high-quality data generation.
- Contribute to the preparation of regulatory documents and present findings to internal teams and potentially external stakeholders.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with a focus on DMPK.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in DMPK research within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Hands-on experience with various in vitro assays (e.g., metabolic stability, CYP inhibition, transporter assays) and in vivo PK studies.
- Proficiency in bioanalytical techniques such as LC-MS/MS.
- Familiarity with pharmacokinetic modeling software (e.g., Phoenix WinNonlin).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment in Norwich .
