Senior Research Scientist - Drug Metabolism

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Senior Research Scientist to join their Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group in Sheffield . This role is essential for characterizing the metabolic fate and pharmacokinetic properties of new drug candidates. You will design and conduct studies using in-vitro and in-vivo models, analyze data, and contribute to the progression of molecules through the drug discovery pipeline. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in DMPK, a strong understanding of drug metabolism pathways, and excellent analytical skills, working within our advanced laboratory facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret in-vitro drug metabolism studies (e.g., enzyme phenotyping, reaction phenotyping).
• Conduct in-vivo pharmacokinetic studies and analyze resulting data to assess drug exposure and disposition.
• Utilize LC-MS/MS techniques for the quantification of drug candidates and their metabolites.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists and other scientists to optimize drug properties based on DMPK data.
• Contribute to regulatory documentation and scientific reports related to drug development.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics research within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS analysis and bioanalytical method development.
• Strong understanding of enzyme kinetics, transporter mechanisms, and drug-drug interaction studies.
• Excellent data analysis, interpretation, and communication skills.
