About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Scientist with a specialization in genomics to join their world-class research facility in Cambridge . This pivotal role involves leading projects focused on understanding genetic variations, gene expression, and their role in disease mechanisms. You will design and execute cutting-edge genomic experiments, analyze large-scale sequencing data, and interpret results to drive scientific insights and therapeutic development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in molecular biology, extensive experience with next-generation sequencing technologies, and robust data analysis skills. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement experimental strategies for next-generation sequencing (NGS) applications, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA sequencing.
- Perform library preparation, perform sequencing runs, and analyze large-scale genomic datasets.
- Develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for data processing, variant calling, and differential gene expression analysis.
- Interpret genomic data in the context of biological pathways and disease phenotypes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate genomic data with other molecular and clinical information.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in genomics technologies and bioinformatics tools.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or a related life science field.
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience, with a significant focus on genomics and NGS technologies.
- Proven experience with various NGS library preparation methods and sequencing platforms.
- Strong proficiency in bioinformatics tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, R, Bash) for analyzing genomic data.
- Familiarity with common genomic databases and annotation resources.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
