Senior Research Scientist - Genomics

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist with expertise in Genomics to join their innovative R&D team in Cambridge . This role is central to designing and executing cutting-edge genomic studies, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis and interpretation. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists to uncover novel biological insights and drive research programs forward. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement genomic experiments, including library preparation for various NGS platforms.
• Perform sophisticated analysis of large-scale genomic datasets (e.g., whole-genome sequencing, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq).
• Develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for variant calling, gene expression analysis, and other genomic analyses.
• Interpret genomic data in the context of biological questions and project goals.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and clinicians to integrate genomic findings with other data types.
• Present research results clearly and effectively to internal teams and at scientific meetings.

Requirements

• PhD in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in genomics research , including NGS library preparation and data analysis.
• Proficiency with bioinformatics tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Bash) for genomic data analysis.
• Experience with various NGS data analysis pipelines and statistical methods.
• Strong understanding of genetic variation, gene regulation, and their biological implications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
