Senior Research Scientist - Pharmacology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist with a specialization in Pharmacology to join their innovative drug discovery team in Plymouth . This position involves leading the design and execution of preclinical studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic compounds. You will be instrumental in interpreting complex pharmacological data, guiding project strategy, and contributing to the advancement of drug candidates through the development pipeline. Key Responsibilities

• Design, conduct, and interpret in vivo and in vitro pharmacological studies to assess drug candidate efficacy and mechanism of action.
• Develop and validate new pharmacological assays and models relevant to specific disease areas.
• Analyze and present experimental results clearly and concisely to project teams and senior management.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of drug discovery projects, identifying key pharmacological questions and potential challenges.
• Mentor junior scientists and research associates, providing technical guidance and training.
• Ensure all experimental work adheres to ethical guidelines and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or a related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in pharmacology research .
• Proven expertise in designing and executing preclinical studies, including animal models of disease.
• Strong understanding of drug discovery processes and principles.
• Experience with various pharmacological techniques, including receptor binding assays, cell-based assays, and PK/PD studies.
• Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of publications.
