Senior Research Scientist - Synthetic Chemistry

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Scientist specializing in Synthetic Chemistry to join their innovative R&D team in Bristol . This role is central to the discovery and development of novel chemical entities for a variety of applications. You will be responsible for designing and executing complex synthetic routes, optimizing reaction conditions, and troubleshooting challenging chemical problems. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes for complex organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of synthetic processes.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced spectroscopic techniques (NMR, MS, IR) and chromatography (HPLC, GC).
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions to chemical problems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process development and analytical chemistry groups.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and contribute to the preparation of scientific reports and publications.

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry , or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industrial experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Demonstrated expertise in modern organic synthesis methodologies, including asymmetric synthesis and catalysis.
• Proficiency in structure elucidation techniques (NMR, MS) and chromatographic purification methods.
• Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and kinetics.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a meticulous approach to experimental work within our Bristol laboratory.
