Senior Scientist - Analytical Chemistry

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Scientist specializing in Analytical Chemistry to join their R&D team in Bristol . This role is crucial for developing and validating robust analytical methods to support the characterization and quality control of new chemical entities and formulated products. You will lead analytical development projects, troubleshoot complex analytical challenges, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with a deep understanding of analytical techniques and their application in a pharmaceutical or chemical R&D setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy) for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis to support product development, stability studies, and quality control.
• Characterize novel compounds and impurities, providing detailed analytical data and interpretations.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and method-related issues, implementing corrective actions.
• Author method validation reports, analytical development summaries, and contribute to regulatory submissions.
• Mentor junior analytical chemists and oversee laboratory operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical method development and validation in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Expertise in chromatographic techniques (HPLC, UPLC, GC) and mass spectrometry (LC-MS, GC-MS).
• Proficiency with spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, IR, NMR).
• Thorough understanding of GMP/GLP regulations and quality control principles.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
