Senior Reservoir Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their dynamic team based in Aberdeen . This critical role involves optimizing hydrocarbon recovery from existing fields and evaluating new development opportunities. You will work with a team of geoscientists, production engineers, and project managers, contributing to the strategic direction of field development and production enhancement. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of reservoir simulation, fluid dynamics, and economic analysis within the challenging North Sea environment, playing a key part in maximizing asset value and ensuring operational efficiency in a high-stakes industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage detailed reservoir models and simulations to predict future performance and optimize production strategies.
• Conduct comprehensive material balance calculations and decline curve analyses for field performance assessment.
• Evaluate and recommend well placement, injection strategies, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques.
• Perform economic evaluations for development projects, including reserves estimation and profitability analysis.
• Collaborate with subsurface and drilling teams to ensure efficient well design and execution.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in reservoir engineering roles within the upstream oil and gas sector.
• Proficiency with industry-standard reservoir simulation software (e.g., Petrel RE, Eclipse, CMG).
• Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex geological and engineering data.
• Experience with North Sea reservoir characteristics and production challenges is highly desirable.
