Senior Sailing Instructor

About the Role

Our client, a renowned sailing club situated in the scenic coastal area of Plymouth , is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Sailing Instructor . This position is responsible for delivering high-quality sailing instruction to a diverse range of students, from beginners to advanced racers, and for assisting in the management of the club's training programmes and fleet. You will ensure a safe, enjoyable, and educational learning environment, mentoring junior instructors and contributing to the club's reputation for excellence in sailing education. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for sailing and a proven ability to inspire and guide learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective sailing lessons across various levels, adhering to RYA (Royal Yachting Association) training schemes.
• Supervise and mentor junior instructors, providing guidance on teaching techniques and safety protocols.
• Manage the club's sailing fleet, ensuring boats and safety equipment are maintained in excellent condition and fit for use.
• Develop and implement lesson plans, course schedules, and assessments to meet student needs and club objectives.
• Ensure strict adherence to all water safety procedures and emergency protocols, maintaining a safe environment for all participants.
• Assist with the organization and execution of club racing events and social activities related to sailing.

Requirements

• RYA Senior Instructor qualification or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering sailing instruction at an accredited centre.
• Current RYA First Aid certificate and valid RYA Powerboat Level 2 or higher qualification.
• Excellent knowledge of sailing techniques, boat handling, and racing rules.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages and abilities.
