Senior Sailing Instructor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic Senior Sailing Instructor to lead their sailing school operations at their beautiful watersports centre in Plymouth, Devon . This position requires extensive experience in sailing instruction, a deep commitment to safety, and the ability to inspire and develop sailors of all ages and abilities. You will manage a team of instructors, develop the curriculum, ensure the highest safety standards, and contribute to the centre's reputation as a premier destination for watersports enthusiasts. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver expert sailing instruction across various dinghy classes and levels, from beginner to advanced.
• Develop, implement, and review the sailing curriculum and lesson plans to ensure quality and progression.
• Manage and mentor a team of sailing instructors, providing training and performance oversight.
• Ensure the strict adherence to all safety procedures and regulations, conducting regular safety briefings and risk assessments.
• Oversee the maintenance and management of the sailing fleet and associated equipment.
• Promote sailing courses and activities, contributing to the growth and success of the watersports centre.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in sailing instruction, with a significant portion in a senior or supervisory capacity.
• RYA Senior Instructor qualification or equivalent international certification.
• Proficiency in a range of sailing disciplines and boat types.
• Strong knowledge of seamanship, navigation, meteorology, and safety management systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• RYA First Aid and Powerboat Level 2 qualifications are essential.
