Senior Scientist - Chemical Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Scientist with expertise in Chemical Biology to join their innovative research team in Bristol . This role is critical for applying chemical tools and methodologies to probe and manipulate biological systems, thereby advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms and identifying novel therapeutic targets. You will lead projects involving target identification, validation, and the development of chemical probes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in organic chemistry and molecular biology, combined with a proven ability to design and execute complex experiments within a hybrid work model that balances focused lab work with remote planning and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and validate chemical probes for studying biological targets and pathways.
• Develop and implement biochemical and cell-based assays to assess target engagement and drug mechanism of action.
• Utilize chemical biology approaches for target identification and validation in various disease areas.
• Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists and biologists to integrate chemical insights into drug discovery programs.
• Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, presenting findings to project teams and stakeholders.
• Contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Biology , Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• 5+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience in chemical biology research.
• Demonstrated expertise in organic synthesis, assay development, and molecular/cellular biology techniques.
• Experience with techniques such as mass spectrometry, fluorescence microscopy, and protein-ligand binding assays.
• Proven ability to independently design and manage research projects.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, suitable for a collaborative hybrid environment.
