About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Scientist with a strong background in Chemical Synthesis to join their pioneering research team in Cambridge . This role is at the forefront of discovering and developing novel compounds with therapeutic potential. You will lead challenging synthetic projects, design innovative routes, and contribute to the advancement of our client's drug discovery pipeline. Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and optimize multi-step synthetic routes for novel small molecules and drug candidates.
- Synthesize complex organic compounds and intermediates with high purity and yield.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using state-of-the-art analytical techniques, including NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC.
- Troubleshoot synthetic problems and develop creative solutions to achieve challenging transformations.
- Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, biologists, and computational scientists to advance discovery programs.
- Contribute to the generation of intellectual property and the preparation of scientific publications.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in synthetic chemistry , preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of organic reactions and synthetic methodologies.
- Proficiency in modern spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound identification and purity assessment.
- Experience with process optimization and scale-up considerations is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong track record of successful project delivery in Cambridge .
