Senior Process Engineer - Chemicals

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their innovative team in Cambridge . This role is central to the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes for a variety of applications within the energy and manufacturing industries . You will be responsible for ensuring processes are safe, efficient, sustainable, and economically viable, playing a key role in process simulation, scale-up, and troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes using simulation software and pilot plant data.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
• Specify and select process equipment, including reactors, heat exchangers, and separation units.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process issues to improve efficiency, yield, and quality.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment datasheets.
• Lead process engineering aspects of project execution, from conceptual design through to commissioning and start-up.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in process engineering , preferably in chemical or related industries.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics , fluid mechanics, and reaction kinetics.
• Experience with scale-up of processes from laboratory to commercial scale.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
