Senior Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist specializing in Drug Discovery to join their innovative R&D team in Edinburgh . This pivotal role involves leading projects aimed at identifying and validating novel drug targets and developing small molecule therapeutics. You will leverage your deep scientific knowledge and extensive experience to drive research initiatives forward, mentor junior scientists, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to cutting-edge pharmaceutical research and development, driving forward critical programs that could impact patient lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of drug discovery projects, from target identification to lead optimization.
• Develop and implement innovative biochemical and cell-based assays to assess compound efficacy and mechanism of action.
• Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, and integrate findings with medicinal chemistry and ADME data.
• Manage research timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.
• Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, present findings to internal stakeholders, and contribute to patent filings and publications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field with a strong focus on drug discovery.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Proven track record of successfully advancing drug discovery programs.
• Expertise in assay development, high-throughput screening, and target validation.
• Strong understanding of medicinal chemistry principles and drug development processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills for a remote setting.
