About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Senior Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry to join their dedicated drug discovery team in Nottingham . This role is integral to the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel small molecule drug candidates. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, applying your expertise in synthetic organic chemistry to medicinal chemistry programs targeting various disease areas. Key Responsibilities
- Design and synthesize novel small molecules with desired pharmacological properties.
- Optimize lead compounds through iterative cycles of design, synthesis, and biological testing.
- Collaborate closely with biologists, pharmacologists, and computational chemists to define structure-activity relationships (SAR).
- Develop and implement robust synthetic routes for target compounds.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and other analytical techniques.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medicinal chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Proven track record in the design and synthesis of small molecule drug candidates.
- Extensive experience with modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques.
- Strong understanding of ADME/Tox principles and their application in drug design.
