About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Scientist specializing in Medicinal Chemistry to join their dynamic, fully remote R&D team. This role is critical for designing, synthesizing, and optimizing novel small molecules with therapeutic potential. You will work closely with biologists and computational chemists to advance drug discovery programs from hit identification through lead optimization. Key Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel small molecules with desired pharmacological profiles for target therapeutic areas.
• Optimize lead compounds through iterative cycles of design, synthesis, and biological testing.
• Conduct SAR studies to understand the relationship between chemical structure and biological activity.
• Collaborate effectively with biologists, pharmacologists, and computational chemists to advance drug discovery projects.
• Utilize modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques and analytical methods (NMR, MS, HPLC) to characterize synthesized compounds.
• Manage project timelines, contribute to strategic planning, and mentor junior chemists.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in medicinal chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Proven track record of designing and synthesizing biologically active small molecules.
• Strong understanding of organic synthesis , reaction mechanisms, and purification techniques.
• Experience with structure-based drug design principles and SAR interpretation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, adept at working in a remote team environment.
