Senior Scientist - Medicinal Chemistry

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Scientist with a strong background in medicinal chemistry to join their innovative drug discovery team in Edinburgh . You will play a critical role in the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel small molecules with therapeutic potential. Key Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel small molecules targeting key disease pathways.
• Conduct structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to optimize potency, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic properties.
• Utilize modern synthetic methodologies and purification techniques.
• Collaborate with biologists to test synthesized compounds and interpret biological data.
• Manage project timelines and resources effectively, contributing to strategic decision-making.
• Maintain high-quality experimental records and contribute to patent filings and publications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
• 5+ years of experience in medicinal chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Proven track record of successfully designing and synthesizing small molecules for drug discovery.
• Expertise in modern synthetic organic chemistry, including asymmetric synthesis and heterocyclic chemistry.
• Strong understanding of drug discovery principles, ADME/Tox properties, and pharmacology.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
