Senior Scientist - Molecular Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist with a strong background in molecular biology to join their cutting-edge research and development team in Cambridge . This role will be instrumental in advancing novel therapeutic programs by applying sophisticated molecular biology techniques to understand disease mechanisms and develop innovative treatment strategies. You will lead experimental design, execution, and data analysis, contributing significantly to key research projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of genetic engineering, nucleic acid manipulation, and protein analysis, working collaboratively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment dedicated to scientific excellence and discovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of complex molecular biology experiments to investigate disease pathways and identify therapeutic targets.
• Develop and optimize assays for gene expression analysis, protein quantification, and cellular function studies.
• Utilize advanced molecular techniques such as CRISPR gene editing, RNA interference, and next-generation sequencing.
• Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data clearly and accurately to project teams and senior management.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of research programs and the development of intellectual property.
• Mentor junior scientists and research associates, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and collaboration in Cambridge .

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in molecular biology research.
• Demonstrated expertise in molecular cloning, PCR, qPCR, western blotting, and cell culture.
• Hands-on experience with gene editing technologies like CRISPR is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to manage research projects independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and presentation.
