Senior Scientist - Process Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join their Process Development team in Nottingham . This role is critical for optimizing and scaling up manufacturing processes for novel therapeutic molecules. You will apply your expertise in chemical engineering and process chemistry to ensure efficient, robust, and cost-effective production. Working within a dynamic R&D environment, you will play a key part in translating laboratory discoveries into scalable manufacturing solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical processes for the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
• Scale up processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process development and scale-up.
• Conduct process hazard analyses and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Characterize process impurities and develop analytical methods for process monitoring.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory affairs teams.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development or chemical manufacturing within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Strong understanding of organic synthesis, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with process scale-up, equipment selection, and process validation.
• Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
