Senior Scientist - Protein Engineering

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist with expertise in protein engineering to join their innovative biotherapeutics team in Bristol . This role involves designing, constructing, and optimizing novel protein-based therapeutics. You will leverage advanced molecular biology techniques and protein characterization methods to develop next-generation biologic drugs. Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer novel protein scaffolds and therapeutic antibodies.
• Utilize molecular cloning, mutagenesis, and expression systems to produce engineered proteins.
• Develop and perform biochemical and biophysical assays to characterize protein structure, function, and stability.
• Optimize protein properties (e.g., affinity, specificity, immunogenicity) through iterative engineering cycles.
• Collaborate with downstream teams (e.g., pharmacology, CMC) to advance protein candidates towards clinical development.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in protein engineering and biotherapeutic development.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience in protein engineering or a related area.
• Proven expertise in molecular biology techniques, protein expression (e.g., bacterial, mammalian), and purification.
• Hands-on experience with various protein characterization methods (e.g., ELISA, SPR, Western Blot, spectroscopy).
• Familiarity with antibody engineering and design principles is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and teamwork abilities.
