About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist specializing in Structural Biology to join their dynamic research team in Norwich . This role is integral to understanding the molecular mechanisms of disease and designing novel therapeutic agents. You will employ advanced structural biology techniques to elucidate protein structures, characterize drug-target interactions, and contribute significantly to the drug discovery pipeline. Working within a state-of-the-art facility, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, driving scientific innovation and advancing critical research objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine protein structures using techniques such as X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM).
- Characterize protein-ligand interactions and their impact on biological function.
- Develop and optimize experimental protocols for protein expression, purification, and crystallization.
- Analyze and interpret complex structural data, including electron density maps and molecular models.
- Collaborate with computational chemists and medicinal chemists to guide structure-based drug design efforts.
- Present research findings to internal teams and at scientific conferences.
Requirements
- PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-doctoral or industry experience in structural biology.
- Proven expertise in X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM, including data collection and structure determination.
- Experience with protein expression, purification, and biochemical characterization is essential.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
