About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist with expertise in Structural Biology to join their innovative, fully remote research and development team. This role is critical for elucidating the three-dimensional structures of biological macromolecules, providing essential insights for drug discovery and development. You will apply state-of-the-art techniques to characterize protein-ligand interactions and guide rational drug design efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of structural biology principles and a proven ability to solve challenging structural problems within a collaborative, remote-first environment, contributing significantly to the advancement of novel therapeutic modalities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments using advanced structural biology techniques, including X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and NMR spectroscopy.
- Determine, analyze, and interpret the structures of target proteins and protein-ligand complexes.
- Collaborate closely with computational chemists and medicinal chemists to inform structure-based drug design strategies.
- Optimize protein expression and purification protocols for structural studies.
- Troubleshoot challenging crystallization or data collection problems effectively.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Requirements
- PhD in Structural Biology , Biophysics, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in determining protein structures using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM.
- Proficiency in structure determination, refinement, and analysis software.
- Experience with protein expression, purification, and characterization techniques.
- Solid understanding of protein chemistry and biophysics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, essential for a fully remote research setting.
