About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Engineer to join their dedicated IT security team in Reading . In this crucial role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing security measures that protect our systems, data, and infrastructure from evolving threats. You will work collaboratively with engineering and IT operations teams to embed security best practices throughout the development lifecycle and respond effectively to security incidents. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and controls across the organization's IT infrastructure.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Manage and monitor security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and SIEM solutions.
- Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic analysis, and develop remediation plans.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure secure coding practices and integrate security into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, with a focus on security engineering or architecture.
- Strong knowledge of network security principles, cryptography, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Experience with security tools such as SIEM , vulnerability scanners, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for security automation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure during security incidents.
