Senior Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Engineer to join their expanding IT and Software team, with the option for fully remote work. This role is essential for safeguarding our digital assets and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our systems and data. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures, responding to threats, and developing security strategies to protect against evolving cyber risks. We are looking for a proactive expert who can champion security best practices and contribute significantly to our security posture, working collaboratively across distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage comprehensive security solutions across infrastructure, applications, and networks.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Monitor security alerts and respond effectively to security incidents, performing forensic analysis when necessary.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies, providing strategic recommendations for enhancement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on engineering and architecture.
• Strong knowledge of network security, application security, cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), and endpoint security.
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of security tasks.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, OSCP) are a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, crucial for effective collaboration in a remote environment supporting teams near Cambridge .
