Senior Site Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to oversee the execution of civil engineering projects from their Sheffield base. This role is critical for ensuring that construction projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for managing site engineering teams, setting out, quality control, and health & safety, working on a variety of challenging construction sites. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering significant infrastructure and building projects within the region, combining site-based work with strategic planning and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and lead site engineering teams, ensuring effective deployment of resources and personnel.
• Oversee setting out, dimensional control, and survey activities using advanced equipment and techniques.
• Implement and enforce rigorous quality assurance and quality control procedures on site.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, translating them into site operations and providing technical guidance to construction teams.
• Monitor construction progress, manage site logistics, and coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.

Requirements

• HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in site engineering, with a significant portion in a senior or supervisory capacity.
• Proven experience working on major civil engineering or building construction projects in the Sheffield area.
• Proficiency in using modern surveying equipment (e.g., Total Stations, GPS) and associated software.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and health and safety legislation.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage effectively in a hybrid work setting.
