Senior Site Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Site Engineer to oversee the technical aspects of construction projects in and around Southampton . This hands-on role is critical for ensuring that construction work is carried out safely, correctly, and to the required specifications. You will be the primary technical point of contact on site, responsible for setting out, quality control, and problem-solving. The successful candidate will possess strong practical engineering knowledge and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a demanding construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate setting out and dimensional control for all construction activities using surveying equipment.
• Implement and enforce the project quality assurance and quality control plan on site.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to guide site operations.
• Supervise and coordinate trades, subcontractors, and direct labour to ensure efficient progress.
• Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during the construction phase, liaising with designers and project managers.
• Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations and promote a positive safety culture on site.

Requirements

• HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Site Engineer, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior capacity.
• Proficiency with total stations , GPS equipment , and leveling instruments .
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant building codes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Valid CSCS card or equivalent.
