About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join their expanding engineering team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role involves designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that power their core products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend engineers, to deliver innovative solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code using languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
- Develop and manage robust APIs and microservices that support frontend applications and third-party integrations.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability and reliability.
- Implement security and data protection measures to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of user data.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Strong proficiency in one or more server-side programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Node.js).
- Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
