About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus to contribute to their innovative technology projects in Stoke-on-Trent . You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable, high-performance backend systems and APIs that power their core products. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system architecture for reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and QA testers to define requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code, participating actively in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and advocate for best practices in software development, including security and scalability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Node.js) and associated frameworks.
- Experience designing and working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
- Solid understanding of API design principles (RESTful, GraphQL), microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
