About the Role
Our client, a rapidly growing tech company based in Nottingham , is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend development. This is a key role within their engineering team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that power their innovative products. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver exceptional software solutions, contributing significantly to the company's technical roadmap and future growth in the Nottingham tech scene.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Develop and manage robust APIs and microservices architecture, ensuring scalability and security.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Proficiency in at least one major backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Node.js).
- Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), caching mechanisms, and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
