Senior Software Engineer - Embedded Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer specializing in Embedded Systems to join their innovative product development team in Derby . This role is critical for designing, developing, and testing embedded software for next-generation hardware products. You will work within a collaborative engineering environment, contributing to all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept to production. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement embedded software solutions in C/C++ for microcontrollers and embedded systems.
• Develop and maintain real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device drivers.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of embedded software.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system requirements and ensure seamless integration.
• Optimize software performance, memory usage, and power consumption for embedded applications.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and contribute to the overall architecture of embedded systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.
• Experience with embedded operating systems (e.g., Linux, RTOS) and bootloaders.
• Familiarity with hardware debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes).
• Understanding of communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, CAN).
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong problem-solving skills.
