About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Solar PV Design Engineer to join their expanding team in Cambridge , operating under a hybrid work model . This role is crucial for designing state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for a variety of commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects. You will lead the technical design process, ensuring systems are optimized for performance, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with all relevant standards. Your expertise will be vital in translating project requirements into robust, innovative, and reliable solar energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the detailed design of solar PV systems , including electrical schematics, layout plans, and component selection.
- Perform energy yield assessments and financial modeling to optimize system design and performance.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, building codes, and health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and installation partners to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Conduct site surveys and technical feasibility studies for potential new projects.
- Mentor junior design engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in solar technology, BIPV, and energy storage integration.
Requirements
- BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of solar PV systems.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope).
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, power systems, and inverter technologies.
- Familiarity with UK grid connection requirements and relevant regulations for solar installations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment, managing tasks both remotely and in the office.
