The office currently has 2 solicitors, 2 paralegals and a solicitor apprentice and the firms COLP often works there during the week. Duties
Your duties as the Senior Solicitor / Head of Office include:
- Office Leadership: Lead the local office day to day and act as a senior point of contact for the team
- Team Supervision and Development: Supervise, support and develop two paralegals and one solicitor apprentice
- Caseload Management: Maintain an individual caseload within the successful candidate’s area or areas of expertise
- Client Care and Compliance: Maintain appropriate standards of client care, file management and regulatory compliance
- Work Allocation and Supervision: Assist with allocating and supervising work across the office
- Junior Team Development: Support progression and development across the team
- Professional Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with clients, professional contacts and local referrers
- Business Development: Contribute to the growth and profile of the office across Eastleigh and the wider Hampshire area
- Cross-Referral Opportunities: Identify opportunities for referrals between different areas of the practice
- Networking and Marketing: Participate in appropriate networking, marketing and business development activity
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Qualified solicitor
- Previous post-qualification experience
- Strong technical ability within at least one of the following areas: family law, general civil litigation, probate and estate administration, wills, LPAs and wider private client work, or residential conveyancing
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers or support staff
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking responsibility for an office and team
- Excellent client-care and communication skills
- Understanding of the commercial realities of running a successful legal practice
- Approachable leadership style that supports colleagues while maintaining professional standards
- Interest in helping build and develop a practice alongside servicing an existing caseload
Desirable
- Previous management or departmental leadership experience
- Broader high-street or general practice background
- Existing client following, established professional network or proven record of generating work
