Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Structural Engineer to join their thriving practice in Reading . This role is critical for leading the structural design aspects of a wide array of exciting construction projects, from inception to completion. You will be responsible for delivering innovative, safe, and cost-effective structural solutions across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors. The position requires a proactive approach, strong technical leadership, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. You will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure project success and uphold the company’s reputation for excellence in structural engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for diverse building projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
• Perform advanced structural analysis and design for various materials, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and design reports, utilizing the latest software and techniques.
• Manage project workload, timelines, and resources effectively, ensuring timely delivery of design packages.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior structural engineers and technicians.
• Undertake site visits for inspections, client meetings, and to resolve any structural issues during construction.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in structural engineering design, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
• Expertise in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro , Robot Structural Analysis , and Tekla .
• Thorough knowledge of the Eurocodes and relevant UK building regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE is essential.
