Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly competent Senior Structural Engineer to join their established consultancy in Reading . This role is central to delivering high-quality structural designs for a diverse range of building projects, from inception through to construction. You will be responsible for leading design tasks, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring technical excellence across all projects undertaken by the team. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of building projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
• Produce detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Undertake site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve any structural issues.
• Liaise effectively with architects, contractors, and other design team members.
• Manage project deliverables, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers, fostering their professional development.

Requirements

• Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialisation.
• A minimum of 6 years' experience in structural engineering design .
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Tekla Structural Designer) and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, and relevant design codes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IStructE, ICE) is highly desirable.
