Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly competent Senior Structural Engineer to join their established engineering practice in Derby . You will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of a variety of building projects, ensuring safety, integrity, and compliance with industry codes. This role involves managing projects from inception through to completion, providing technical leadership, and collaborating with architects, contractors, and other consultants. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset and a commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable structural solutions for diverse construction challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake structural analysis and design for new build and refurbishment projects in steel, concrete, and timber.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculation reports .
• Manage the structural aspects of projects, liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure construction adheres to design intent.
• Review designs and calculations prepared by junior engineers, providing guidance and support.
• Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and Building Regulations.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
• Minimum of 7 years' post-graduate experience in structural engineering .
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Robot Structural Analysis) and AutoCAD.
• In-depth knowledge of structural design principles and construction materials.
• Experience in managing project timelines and budgets effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team and client collaboration.
