Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join their innovative design consultancy in Reading . This role is central to the design and delivery of complex structural solutions for a diverse range of projects, including commercial buildings, residential developments, and public infrastructure. You will take a leading role in structural analysis, design, and project coordination, working collaboratively with architects, project managers, and other disciplines. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead significant projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to a reputation for engineering excellence in the Thames Valley region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for a variety of building and infrastructure projects using advanced analysis and design software.
• Prepare comprehensive structural calculations, drawings, and specifications compliant with relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
• Liaise effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
• Undertake site visits to monitor progress, inspect works, and resolve structural issues as they arise.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior structural engineers and technicians.
• Ensure designs are safe, economical, and meet all regulatory and client requirements.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., IStructE, ICE).
• A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in structural engineering design.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Tekla Structural Designer) and CAD.
• In-depth knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes, and building regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
