Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a highly competent Senior Structural Engineer to join their established engineering consultancy in Cambridge . This role involves the design and analysis of structural elements for a variety of building projects, from concept to completion. You will take a lead role in project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and liaising with clients, architects, and contractors. The successful candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering innovative and safe structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake structural design and analysis for a wide range of building structures using relevant software.
• Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural works.
• Manage structural engineering aspects of projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants to ensure seamless project integration.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.

Requirements

• Masters degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field.
• Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE or MICE) or nearing completion.
• Significant experience in structural design, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Tekla Structural Designer) and AutoCAD.
• Thorough understanding of Eurocodes and relevant British Standards.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
