Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their reputable engineering consultancy based in Reading . This critical role involves leading the structural design aspects of a wide range of building projects, from residential developments to commercial structures and public facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and efficiency of structural designs, mentoring junior engineers, and liaising with clients and project teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design for various building types, including new builds, extensions, and refurbishments.
• Perform complex structural analysis and design calculations for steel, concrete, masonry, and timber elements.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and reports using structural analysis software.
• Oversee and mentor a team of junior structural engineers, ensuring high-quality output.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and provide technical support.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and clients to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IStructE or ICE, or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering design.
• Demonstrated expertise in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro , Robot Analysis , or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of current UK building regulations and relevant Eurocodes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in managing project timelines and budgets for structural packages.
