Senior Structural Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Structural Mechanical Engineer to join their dedicated team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK . This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and performance of mechanical structures under various loads and environmental conditions. You will lead structural analysis efforts, collaborate with design teams, and provide critical insights to guarantee the safety and reliability of our client's products. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanics of materials, advanced simulation techniques, and a proven ability to solve complex structural engineering challenges within a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced structural analysis using FEA software to assess component and system integrity under static, dynamic, and fatigue loads.
• Develop and validate computational models for complex mechanical structures.
• Interpret analysis results and provide clear recommendations to the design engineering team.
• Define material properties and testing requirements for structural components.
• Collaborate closely with design engineers and manufacturing teams to implement optimized structural solutions.
• Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for structural analysis within the company.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in structural mechanics.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in structural analysis and mechanical design.
• Expert proficiency in FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN).
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, elasticity, plasticity, and fracture mechanics.
• Experience with interpreting test data and correlating it with simulation results.
