Senior Subsea Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Subsea Engineer to join their offshore engineering team, based in the coastal city of Plymouth, Devon, UK . This hybrid role is crucial for the design, development, and implementation of subsea systems and infrastructure for offshore energy projects. You will apply advanced engineering principles to ensure the integrity, safety, and efficiency of subsea equipment and operations. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of subsea hardware, fluid dynamics, and project management in challenging marine environments, contributing to the successful delivery of complex offshore installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and specification of subsea equipment, including pipelines, umbilicals, manifolds, and structures.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations related to hydrodynamics, structural integrity, and thermal analysis for subsea components.
• Oversee the fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases of subsea projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
• Develop and review technical drawings, documentation, and operational procedures for subsea systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, naval architects, and marine operations personnel.
• Manage risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for subsea operations, considering environmental factors and deep-water challenges.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related offshore engineering discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in subsea engineering , with a strong focus on offshore oil and gas or offshore renewable energy projects.
• Proven expertise in subsea system design, analysis (FEA, CFD), and relevant software (e.g., OrcaFlex, ANSYS).
• In-depth understanding of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., API, DNV, ISO).
• Experience with marine operations, installation procedures, and interfacing with subsea construction vessels.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills for working in a hybrid team environment.
