Senior Substation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and expert Senior Substation Engineer to join their vital operations in Norwich , supporting the UK's critical energy infrastructure . This role is pivotal in the design, development, and implementation of high-voltage substation projects, ensuring the safe and efficient transmission and distribution of electricity. You will lead engineering efforts, provide technical oversight, and collaborate with project teams to deliver complex substation solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of electrical substations, including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and control systems.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for substation projects.
• Conduct site feasibility studies, risk assessments, and conceptual designs for new substation developments and upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to national and international standards.
• Oversee the construction, commissioning, and testing phases of substation projects, ensuring quality and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in substation engineering , with a strong focus on high-voltage AC/DC systems.
• Demonstrated experience in leading complex substation projects from concept to completion.
• Proficiency with substation design software, protection relaying principles, and grid code requirements.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams.
