Senior Subsurface Data Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Subsurface Data Scientist to join their innovative, fully remote digital transformation team. You will collaborate virtually with geoscientists, engineers, and data platform specialists to build predictive models and data-driven solutions that enhance exploration success and operational efficiency in the Oil & Gas industry. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement machine learning models for predicting reservoir properties, seismic facies, and drilling risks.
• Process, clean, and analyze large, complex subsurface datasets (seismic, well logs, production data).
• Design and build data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and analysis.
• Collaborate with domain experts to define data science problems and translate business needs into analytical solutions.
• Communicate complex findings and model results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations and reports.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in data science, with a significant portion focused on subsurface data analysis within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Expertise in Python or R, including relevant libraries for data manipulation, machine learning, and statistical analysis (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fully remote , fast-paced environment.
