About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Subsurface Engineer to join their exploration and production team based in Plymouth, Devon . This critical role involves in-depth analysis of geological and geophysical data to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon resources. You will be responsible for developing subsurface models, estimating reserves, and recommending optimal development strategies to maximize asset value. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in geology, geophysics, or petroleum engineering, coupled with excellent analytical and communication skills to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geological and geophysical interpretation of seismic and well data.
- Develop and refine subsurface models and geological interpretations.
- Estimate hydrocarbon reserves and resources using industry-standard methods.
- Provide technical input for field development planning and production optimization.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and production engineers.
- Evaluate exploration opportunities and assess associated risks.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to management and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in subsurface evaluation and asset development within the oil and gas industry.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software for geological modeling and data interpretation (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
- Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
- Experience with reserve estimation techniques and uncertainty analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
