Senior Subsurface Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Subsurface Geologist to contribute to their exploration and development efforts from their Leeds office. This role is central to identifying new hydrocarbon prospects, characterizing existing fields, and providing critical geological input for drilling and development decisions. You will work with large geological datasets, advanced modeling software, and collaborate closely with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and drilling teams. This hybrid position emphasizes collaboration and strategic planning, making it ideal for a geologist eager to make a significant impact on the company's exploration portfolio and asset evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to build robust subsurface models.
• Identify and evaluate new exploration opportunities and appraise existing fields for development potential.
• Contribute geological expertise to well planning, including target selection, casing point definition, and geological risk assessment.
• Perform detailed core analysis and thin section studies to understand reservoir heterogeneity and depositional environments.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and joint venture partners.
• Stay abreast of the latest geological technologies and methodologies relevant to hydrocarbon exploration and development.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in exploration geology or subsurface evaluation in the oil and gas industry .
• Master's degree in Geology, Geosciences, or a related field.
• Proficiency with geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, ArcGIS) for 3D modeling and interpretation.
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and sequence stratigraphy.
• Proven ability to integrate multidisciplinary subsurface data and assess geological uncertainty.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for presentations and technical documentation.
