About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and creative Senior Synthetic Organic Chemist to join their innovative research and development team in Norwich . This role is critical for designing and executing complex synthetic routes to create novel molecules with potential applications in pharmaceuticals and advanced materials. You will lead challenging synthesis projects, mentor junior chemists, and contribute to the strategic direction of chemical research. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes for novel organic compounds.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability.
- Purify and characterize synthesized compounds using modern spectroscopic and analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC).
- Troubleshoot complex synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior chemists in laboratory techniques and synthetic strategies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance research projects from concept to completion.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
- Proven expertise in designing and executing complex organic syntheses.
- Strong hands-on experience with a wide range of organic reactions and purification techniques.
- Proficiency in modern spectroscopic analysis (NMR, MS) for structure elucidation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong publication record.
